Rottering Away!

We are safely arrived in Rotterdam, where the fabulous Val came to find us at the Central station and brought us back to the familiar harbor where she and Koos live. The day has been gorgeous and warm, much like Belgium was, but not the sweltering type we had across Italy. For those of you who know Val and Koos from their blogs, they are just as charming and kind in real life and are wonderful company. Val and I came to the revelation that the most important ingredient needed to become a writer is an "interesting" family growing up. With at least one eccentric parent or grandparent, you have all the necessary fodder for good storytelling.

Right now, I am stretched out in a beach towel on the deck of the Vereeniging while Austin is whipping up an Italy inspired supper to delight the palet. Sindy seems to have adapted well to our arrival, and we also met the little spaniel Charlie, who belongs to Val's daughter and her husband. They get on well together. We are delighted to be here with them, and I for nor cannot believe four years have gone by between visits. It's incredible to me how we just pick up from where we left off and just have a very natural and comfortable friendship despite the geographical and temporal distance.

I hope you're all enjoying the weekend wherever you are.

It seems fantastic that you are sitting here next to me, Anne Marie. It really is so great to have you here! Picking up where we left off is just what makes it so special...and yes, I do think we're right about that interesting family background as regards writing..I'm now about to open that bottle of wine! xx

Have a toast to your families girls and boys. Glad you finally hooked up. Isn't wonderful how social media can become social interaction over wine and food!

Enjoy and give Sindy and those bloggers a hug!

So awesome, to hear you all relaxing, eating, enjoying eachothers company. Oh and to hear, Sin and Charlie getting along just fine, :). What a pair they must be. Super cool, wish I was there.
