Fun, Fun, Fun!

We're been having lots of fun in recent weeks with our visiting California girls and other friends. Here are a few pictures from the last few days.

Autumn's very chocolaty birthday cake, made by Austin and devoured by all on Sunday.

Autumn in full baker mode, with Whiskey waiting as patiently as possible for his bone-shaped cookies to be made. Autumn quote: "First the birthday, then some work!" (Or, as the fabulous Sindy would say, s'not fair!)

Our group photo from our trip to the Toronto Islands today- it was warm and mainly sunny, without the humidity of recent weeks, and everyone had a good time. In the photo are Autumn and her mum, Antoinette, my very dear friend Brigitte with her son Avery and his two good friends, Hisham and Tariq, who are brothers. Oh, and I'm there, too.

Oh Anne Marie, it feels like forever since you and Austin were here. I'm afraid it hasn't been all fun in the sun either. The weather was not too bad for the first 10 days or so after you left - up and down, but this last week has been dreadful, more like autumn than summer. I hear it's over most of Europe too, although ironically the further north you go, the better it seems to be. Hopefully it will clear soon.

Your family photo is great, and nice to see the famous Brigitte, Aren't her sons tall!! You're right, the summer is going fast, so I'm hoping we'll have a super September if it's going to stay like this for long! Lots of love to you both xxx

I love how alert Whiskey is, my goodness. Of course I pay most mind to the dog (I honestly do this everywhere or wherever there are dogs and children? I woo over the dogs). Whiskey looks strong and so happy.

What a lovely Autumn to make him fresh baked treats, and to call it work, and to indulge in CHOCOLATE CAKE. It's a photo, the cake, already into the past. Something about the cake itself, the image, kind of imperfect, a mastered craft, deep in the recesses of memory. already. what a gift.

and lovely friends. friends are my favorite people.
