Mumford & Sons

It has been a long time since I was excited and moved by a new band. Coldplay, REM, U2, the Clash, and maybe before that, we are back in the times of records and simpler times. But I am in love again, with a young band that has but two CDs under their belt and has crept under my skin and under my heart through the din of modern music. They are old souls in such young bodies, lyrically, playing traditional instruments under rich melodies and harmonies, despite an admittedly repetitive arc to their songs, I am entranced by the musical magic they create.

Today, I hit repeat on the subway and bus, somehow drawn to this song over and over again. It captures the essence of Mumford & Sons for me, with hope and despair dancing together, all of it getting under my skin and refusing to let me go. Enjoy.

Watch them here.

Didn't you mention them when you were here last year, Anne Marie? Or was it someone else? Anyhow, I shall listen to the clip right away! Lovely to see you posting again!
