A lot of the old gang is back, and for this, I am truly happy and grateful. What drew me to this group back in 2005, other than Pete Townshend novella blog, was the ability of the people here to delve into topics deeply at times, and to draw me in to whatever discussions or observations were the order of the day. There were moments of levity and quick stopovers, but there were also big ideas and philosophical debates that don't exist in any other social media platform anymore. Everywhere else, it seems, people are shouting, mocking, and too frightened by the prospect of actually having genuine conversations, and it doesn't work for me anymore.
So here I am. Back in the place that started this social media experiment for me almost 15 years ago. I just replied to a friend's thoughtful post about the pitfalls of mobile phones and I am not sure my reply was transmitted properly, which is a bit of a shame because my response was eloquent and well-thought out. I think I need to tweak some settings here and there, which I will get to very soon.
So, in the meantime, I am delighted to be back reading. String, I thoroughly enjoyed your two-part articles even though my response seems to have vanished in the ether, and Gina, I am trying to move beyond having to log into Chrome in order to interact. Soon be home, as The Who famously sang.
